Here at the heat is on, we put the knowledge of what you need directly in your hands as the homeowner, so you needn’t ask or wait for information from your plumber. Here we give you complete expert guidance for this specific designer radiator — including details of any additional parts required — so you can ensure a smooth and successful installation when your tradesman arrives.
heat output
- Firstly, if you haven't already done so – use our heat calculator to work out your specific requirements for your room, ensuring you are selecting the correct size designer radiator in terms of the BTUs heat output it provides.
design & material
- SHERWOOD H is a horizontal designer radiator with a distinctive, modern profile.
- Perpendicularly arranged bars of varied diameters create visual interest and an eye-catching appearance.
- Design evokes the illusion of trees, breaking the monotony of traditional radiator forms.
- Simple yet sculptural form avoids design clichés while maintaining functional performance.
- Additionally, we have created a thorough and detailed technical guide on central heating radiators, giving even more information and tips.
full range of sizes available
- In addition to the sizes we are displaying here on the heat is on - you can view the full range of 9 different sizes of SHERWOOD H here on the Terma website.
- When viewing the Terma website, heat outputs are only listed in Watts – using the column header stating 75/65/20, multiply the amounts by 3.41 to get the BTUs equivalent.
- If you want to learn more about heat output, view our technical guide on heat output.
- We can process a special order for any size you wish to purchase if that size is not shown on our website.
colour & finish
- Painted in Red Wine.
- Finished in a matt, metallic texture.
- This is a premium wet paint, applied by hand rather than using automated powder paint, creating a deeper, more metallic finish.
- Note: If you don't have the budget for a premium wet paint, the closest powder paint match is Groovy Red, which costs approximately 25% less. Please call us to request this colour as it is not listed on the website yet.
- Additionally, we have created a thorough and detailed technical guide on paint finishes and colours, giving even more information and tips.
installation & orientation
- Designed exclusively as a landscape (horizontal) radiator and cannot be installed vertically.
- Features 50mm pipe connections; recommended for use with a matching 50mm H-block valve for a neat, streamlined installation.
- Compatible with standard central heating systems.
advice on which valves to purchase for piped installation (central heating)
- This radiator is not supplied with valves, as we have such a vast selection of styles & colours to choose from. We do not include them (like some other retailers) as we cannot make this choice on your behalf.
- However, we make choosing the correct valves very easy for you. With our years of experience, we know once homeowners have chosen their radiator the valve selection process can be a little daunting — and even the plumber won't make the best choice for you in terms of aesthetics. You need to do this yourself, as you are left looking at the installation once the plumber has gone. We often speak to homeowners who have been disappointed with how a poor valve choice or absence of pipes & covers has let down the look — don't let this be you.
- On the right-hand side of this page we have pre-filtered our vast selection of valves to show you only the optimal valves for this specific model — easy. You’ll see two sections:
- 1. matching/complementary colour valve & pipe sets — these could be an exact match (painted using the same paint as the radiator) or the closest complementary match (depending on availability). These valves come complete with pipes and wall covers to conceal the standard copper or plastic pipes for a more professional finish.
- 2. standard valve & pipe sets — more economical standard valves which are not painted using the same paints as the radiator, so will never match exactly. Pipes and covers must be purchased separately.
-
which orientation of valves do I need: 3-axis (corner), straight or angled?
- 1. pipework through the wall — typically most modern pipework comes through the wall, and for this you'll need angled valves. If your pipework is not yet in, our advice is to ask your plumber to bring it through the wall.
- 2. pipework through the floor — you'll need straight valves.
- Note: On the images you'll see this has been installed with a matching colour smart TRV head on the side. For this installation, the valve at the bottom is a body only and does not need a head if you are placing the head on the side as shown.
- Additionally, we have created a thorough and detailed technical guide on radiator valves, giving even more information and tips.
