Here at the heat is on, we put the knowledge of what you need directly in your hands as the homeowner, so you needn’t ask or wait for information from your electrician. Here we give you complete expert guidance for this specific electric towel rail — including details of any additional parts required — so you can ensure a smooth and successful installation when your tradesman arrives.
heat output
- Firstly, if you haven't already done so - use our heat calculator to work out your specific requirements for your room to ensure you are looking at the right size electric radiator - in terms of the Watts / Kilowatts heat output it gives.
design & material
- KIOTO E features unique D-shaped bars with right angle returns for a very structured design profile inspired by Japanese architecture, crafted using cutting-edge technology to ensure superior quality.
- The design is much more angular and distinctive compared to standard chrome ladder rails, making it a sought-after choice for those wanting a more designer look and feel.
- Ideal for family bathrooms or utility rooms, with multiple gaps for hanging towels and clothes.
- The horizontal bars are 30×10mm and the outer upright bars are 30×30mm.
- Made from low carbon mild steel.
- Additionally, we have created a thorough and detailed technical guide on electric towel rails , giving even more information and tips.
full range of sizes available
- In addition to the sizes we are displaying here on the heat is on - you can view the full range of 5 different sizes of KIOTO E here on the Terma website.
- We can process a special order for any size you wish to purchase if that size is not shown on our website.
control & functionality
- Supplied with the Terma MOA heating element.
- Full operational control via the 4 buttons: Temp +/−, Drying Function, Power.
- 5 heat settings (30°C to 60°C) regulating the internal radiator temperature, denoted by 5 LEDs.
- 2-hour drying function for quick and efficient towel drying.
- Compatible with an external timer, retaining settings when switched off.
- No built-in timer.
- If you wish to control the maximum surface temperature of the towel rail (for example, to safeguard children), this element can be programmed to limit output:
- The 30°C to 60°C internal range is divided across 5 LED settings in 7.5°C increments.
- LED 1 = 30°C, LED 2 = 37.5°C, LED 3 = 45°C, LED 4 = 52.5°C, LED 5 = 60°C.
- You can cap the maximum temperature (e.g. LED 2 = 37.5°C) so it cannot be increased beyond that level.
- Instructions for this are included in the printed manual.
- Alternatively, consider contacting us to special order this model with the 43D, which is pre-set to 43°C for a safe low surface temperature without reprogramming.
- Looking for a heating element that automatically turns off (ideal for hotels or homes where you're conscious about energy use)?
- We offer two alternatives designed for timed operation - both of which you can contact us to special order this model with either of the elements inside instead:
- TDY – runs for 1, 2, or 3 hours, then switches off automatically, with adjustable temperature settings.
- DRY – runs for 1–5 hours, auto shut-off, and pre-set to 45°C.
colour & finish
- Painted in RAL 9005 Matt Black.
- Finished in a matt, smooth texture.
- This is a standard powder paint.
- Additionally, we have created a thorough and detailed technical guide on paint finishes and colours giving even more information and tips.
- Don't see the model listed in the exact colour you are looking for - you can order almost any radiator in any bespoke colour - click to view our PDFs showcasing the full colour palettes on offer.
installation & features
- Element is pre fitted inside the radiator - located on the right hand side (E8 connection). If you would like the heating element on the left hand side (E1 connection), please contact us to place this as a special order. Consider where your electric supply will be so the wire has the shortest distance to travel.
- Quick and simple installation; no commissioning required.
- This electric towel rail is not supplied with a plug - so must be connected to a switched fused spur - or you can mount a plug (if this is not being installed in a bathroom). If you'd like a model pre fitted with a plug look at the Wi-Fi options as the VEO elements are pre fitted with a UK plug.
- Note: The cable masking cover shown in the images at the rear of the element, which covers the wire up to the entry point into the wall, is not included and needs to be bought separately (link shown top right to product).
safety & compliance
- IPX5 rated – safe for use in bathrooms.
- Oil-filled for efficient, consistent heat distribution.
- Class 1 electrical appliance.
- UKCA approved.
